PHNOM PENH, CAMBODIA — Human of This Planet, a global storytelling platform founded by Cheryl Ng, in collaboration with Paradyms, a creative studio founded by Keoni Carrion, has announced the upcoming premiere screening of their debut documentary series, “Beyond the Noise.” The premiere event will take place on June 19, 2026 at 6:00 PM at the Institut Français du Cambodge (IFC) in Phnom Penh, with IFC serving as venue partner and co-host. The evening will bring together the communities featured in the films, independent filmmakers, and members of the public and press.

The anthology series is about Cambodians protecting their land, culture, and communities — told through intimate, embedded filmmaking that follows individuals working away from the public spotlight.
The series comprises three episodes, each bearing its own title and centering a different corner of Cambodia’s living landscape.
ROOTS, the first episode, produced in partnership with 3CORsECO, follows two people in Cambodia’s northern forests working to protect Kui indigenous culture: A refugee turned community architect who brought both his skills and his own experience of displacement to the Kui community — designing structures and building a cashew enterprise that keeps their livelihoods rooted in their land, and a young Kui woman using her voice and public visibility to keep her traditions alive.

CURRENTS, the second episode, produced in partnership with Khmer Ocean Life, follows two Cambodians who found their way to the ocean unexpectedly — one from a landlocked province, one from the city — as they navigate the complexities of safeguarding fragile marine ecosystems along Cambodia’s coast.

REMADE, the third episode, produced in partnership with Remade in Cambodia, follows a young designer who refused to be kept out of an industry that wasn’t making room for him, and a Cambodian woman in her early thirties who built an organisation turning textile waste into fashion.

Three different worlds. The same question running underneath all of them: what does it take to protect what matters?
“In a world that frequently rewards the loudest voices, we intentionally choose to listen to those who speak softly but carry the most profound responsibilities,” said Cheryl Ng, Founder of Human of This Planet. “Storytelling carries a systemic responsibility. As global attention shifts toward sustainability, authentic personal narratives have the unique power to rebalance who gets seen, who gets funded, and who gets supported at the grassroots level.”

The June 19 screening at the Institut français du Cambodge will showcase all three episodes, followed by an interactive panel discussion and open networking session with the documentary subjects and production team. Films will be screened with English and Khmer subtitles. For further information and media assets, visit beyondthenoisefilm.com.
