Cycling for Cambodia (CFC), a long-standing initiative supporting the Angkor Hospital for Children (AHC), is set to bring its renowned charity ride to Phnom Penh for the first time.
Launched in 2014 in Siem Reap through a partnership between Cambodia Cycling Company and Asian Square Group, the event was created to raise both awareness and vital funds for AHC. With its central theme, “Cycling for Environment and Children’s Health,” the initiative has grown to symbolise community-driven support for children’s healthcare.
This year, the event will be held in Phnom Penh and is organised by the Cambodian Cycling Federation (CCF). Scheduled for May 31, the ride will kick off at 4:30 a.m. from the iconic Independence Monument. Cyclists of all levels are encouraged to join the cause, contributing not only to a greener city but also to improved medical services for Cambodian children in need.
AHC treats between 350 and 450 children daily, offering free medical care. Since its establishment in 1999, the hospital has provided care to over 2.5 million children. Operating costs total approximately $6 million annually, with 80% of funding sourced from international donors and the remaining 20% from within Cambodia.
Participants can register online or on-site, either solo or in groups. The registration fee is US$20 without a bicycle and US$25 with bicycle rental included. For more details, contact [email protected].
