Marriott International in Asia Pacific Mother’s Day Giveback Campaign Honors Female Healthcare Professionals throughout May amid COVID-19 Pandemic

Cambodia, May 2020 – Kicked off on May 8, Marriott International launched its “Mother’s Day Giveback Campaign”, which recognizes and celebrates healthcare professionals and essential services workers, especially women medical frontliners, for their work and sacrifice during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The campaign sees participating hotels in Asia Pacific donating hotel meals and special Mother’s Day treats throughout the month of May, expressing their heartfelt appreciation to the medical heroes in their communities.

“Mother’s Day is a special time to celebrate the love and sacrifices of mothers, as well as all the women who care for us,” said Rajeev Menon, President, Asia Pacific (excluding Greater China), Marriott International. “We are honoring them, especially the medical professionals serving tirelessly to keep our cities safe. This year’s celebration is one of the ways Marriott International is uniting with our communities in the fight against the global pandemic. Together, we will get through this.”

15 Participating hotels across Singapore, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Gurgaon, Bhopal, Siem Reap and Phnom Penh will donate hotel meals to healthcare professionals who are on duty at selected hospitals or healthcare centers. Female healthcare professionals will receive special Mother’s Day celebration treats, such as fresh baked muffins, handcrafted cookies and artisan chocolate giftset as tokens of appreciation.

In addition to the Mother’s Day celebration treats where over 600 pieces of pastry are delivered to the frontline healthcare professionals in Siem Reap and Phnom Penh, Marriott International Hotels in Cambodia also organized blood donation drive and donated their hotel’s linen and amenities to the local hospitals.

On May 15, Le Méridien Angkor together with Courtyard by Marriott Siem Reap Resort co-organized a blood donation activity for their associates to help stocking up the blood banks at Siem Reap Provincial Referral Hospital and Angkor Hospital for Children Siem Reap. Le Méridien Angkor has also donated 300 pieces of its unused linen and 200 pieces of hotel’s amenities to Kantha Bopha Children Hospital Siem Reap and Angkor Hospital for Children.

In the capital city, the team from Courtyard by Marriott Phnom Penh also visited Kantha Bopha Children Hospital Phnom Penh on May 12 to donate 300 pieces of hotel’s amenities and organized a blood donation activity there as well.

The Mother’s Day Giveback Campaign follows on from the recently-launched Community Caregiver Program in Asia Pacific excluding Greater China, which recognizes the need to unite with their communities in the fight against the pandemic. The initiative includes providing medical frontliners preferential room rates at over 80 Marriott International properties across the region, many of which are located close to major hospitals and healthcare facilities, so that frontliners have a place to stay and rest near their workplaces.

Marriott Bonvoy members have also been empowered to help out by donating their Marriott Bonvoy points towards worthy causes such as the American Red Cross, International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, UNICEF and many others.
